Job Summary

The Office of Information Technology encourages applications for an Application Administrator on the Identity and Access Management (IAM) team! This position serves as the service operation administrator for a variety of IAM products, including the Oracle Identity Manager service and the Grouper Access Management services. It is also responsible for enhancing the overall secure identities framework through MFA strategies. This role will collaborate with senior leads for the day-to-day operation, support, and governance of the entire IAM service stack. This includes the maintenance of a risk-averse security standard and contributing to the ongoing efforts to improve CU Boulder's overall security posture. This position collaborates with the IAM Application Manager and will assist with the integrations of IAM solutions to various services across OIT and the campus. The position will also be a part of a formal on-call rotation to provide 24/7 availability to all services.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Service Operation:
  • Manage day-to-day routine tasks related to the operation of Identity & Access Management infrastructure, applications, and processes, including event and problem detection, incident management, restoration of service, investigation and root cause analysis, and remediation. Service operation may also include request fulfillment and providing access to Identity services and applications. 
Continual Service Improvement: 
  • Regularly review, benchmark, and audit services and processes and identify specific improvements to increase quality and value. Verify that these initiatives are carried out and are positively impacting services and users.
Integration and Consultation for OIT Projects and Campus IT Initiatives: 
  • Provide technical expertise and recommendations on identity and access requirements for new projects and established processes. Integrate applications and services with Identity & Access Management tools and solutions and communicate best-practices for authentication, authorization, and provisioning.
Service Transition: 
  • Participate in the building of Identity & Access services and processes and ensure that changes are evaluated, tested, and carried out in accordance with established organizational change practices. Support knowledge management by contributing to and maintaining documentation and capturing details of changes and problem resolution.
Service Strategy & Design: 
  • Participate in strategic decisions about how best to fulfill the Identity & Access Management needs of both users and IT service providers. Accompany and assist senior administrators and architects in the exploration of new technologies and design initiatives.
  • The above duties will be performed with guidance from more senior team members as needed.

What We Can Offer

  • At the entry-level, $54,060 - $60,942.
  • At the Professional level, $66,300 - $74,712.

What We Require

At the entry-level:
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution of higher education in information technology, computer science or related field. Equivalent professional experience in application administration or support may be substituted for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
At the Professional level:
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution of higher education in information technology, computer science or related field. Equivalent professional experience in application administration or support may be substituted for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
  • 1 year of relevant work experience in application administration or support, preferably in the IAM space.

What You Will Need

  • Familiarity of Active Directory services.
  • Basic understanding of SQL.
  • General understanding of identity and access management principles.
  • Ability to establish, maintain and cultivate positive and effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Ability to work well individually, as well as harmoniously with others in support of team effort.
  • Ability and interest to continually learn and grow professionally.
  • Ability to create and follow work plans.
  • Ability to work across departments and business units to implement organization’s identity and access management principles and programs.
  • Skill in verbal and written communication, facilitation and social skills.

What We Would Like You to Have

  • Experience working within information technology in the higher education industry.
  • Experience with the Agile Framework, working with Agile Delivery Teams, using Agile / Scrum / Kanban.
  • Experience in the IAM domain in a cloud-based infrastructure environment.
  • Experience with Azure AD.
  • Proven understanding of data security and compliance operations and governance for highly confidential data (eg. HIPAA, FERPA, CUI, etc.).
  • Experience with Oracle Identity Manager.
  • Experience with Internet2 product stack (Grouper, Shibboleth, Midpoint, CoManage).
