Job Summary

The Department of Information Science within the College of Media, Communications and Information seeks an outstanding scholar or instructor for a 2-year full-time teaching position as a Scholar in Residence or Instructor, starting in Fall 2022. Applicants with a background in human-computer interaction and related areas are encouraged to apply. With a faculty with strengths in both computer science and the social sciences, the Department takes a progressive approach to the field of Information Science, focusing on human–data interaction in all its diverse forms and contexts.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

The primary responsibility of the scholar-in-residence position will be to teach 6 undergraduate courses per year in human-computer interaction as well as related areas in design and computing. Depending on qualifications, the course load might also include courses at the graduate level.

The candidate filling the position will be rostered with the department faculty and is expected to participate in the governance of the department especially in relation to curricular matters.

What We Can Offer

The annual salary range for this position is $85,000-$90,000 and includes CU Boulder's excellent benefits package.

What We Require

  • Graduate degree in a field relevant to the study of information science and proven experience in classroom teaching of undergraduate students in computing and/or information science-related topics, especially to novices.

  • Successful candidate must show evidence of commitment to high-quality teaching and to creating an inclusive educational environment that is responsive to the needs, abilities, and interests of a diverse body of students. 

What We Would Like You To Have

  • PhD or other terminal degree in a relevant field, including Information Science, Computer Science, Science and Technology Studies and others. 
  • Experience with and/or commitment to inclusive pedagogies.
