Job Summary

The Office of Information Technology is upgrading our wireless technologies across campus. We’re looking for someone knowledgeable about IT infrastructure and able to provide design direction to IT contractors around pathways, existing infrastructure and feasibility of desired wireless AP locations. You will translate detailed information from Ekauhau designs into AutoCAD and your completed AutoCAD designs will be used by our IT contractors for installation of pathway, data cabling and wireless access points.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Design Collaboration and Site Visits -- 
  • Collaborate with wireless engineering team members to review, complete building site walks, validate feasibility of IT pathway, installation and AP mounting.  

Design Work in AutoCAD -- 
  • Prepare and maintain scaled telecom/networking drawing packages for the design and construction of wireless infrastructure using existing drawings by documenting new wireless locations, mounting type, infrastructure pathway and any special notes/instructions.

Quality Assurance -- 
  • Review work for quality assurance to meet company and customer standards, capturing design changes and red-lines required to meet infrastructure needs. 

What We Can Offer

  • Base salary for this position starts at $55,000.

What We Require

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in telecommunications information systems, engineering or other related field. 
    • A combination of education and relevant experience may be substituted for the degree on a year for year basis. 
  • At least 2 years of experience in AutoCAD, including proficiency in AutoCAD 2018.

What You Will Need

Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
Ability to work independently under tight deadlines.
Ability to effectively communicate with campus constituents.
Strong attention to detail.

What We Would Like You To Have

  • Proven experience in IT infrastructure installations including knowledge of cable pathway, routing and fill rates.
  • Proven expertise drafting in AutoCAD, preferably for IT infrastructure. 
  • Wireless site drafting experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite and Adobe.
