Job Summary

The Department of Information Science in the College of Media, Communication and Information seeks an outstanding candidate for a non-tenure track, non-contractual one year instructor position (with opportunity for renewal) starting Spring 2025 or Fall 2025. Applicants with a background in quantitative and computational methods in information science and related areas are encouraged to apply. With a faculty with strengths in both computer science and the social sciences, the Department takes a progressive approach to the discipline of Information Science, focusing on human–data interaction in all its diverse forms and contexts.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

The primary responsibility for this position will be to teach 6 courses in computing and quantitative methods, particularly in support of our existing BS curriculum in Information Science and a new, cross-disciplinary Data Science minor. Opportunities may be available for a candidate with skills and qualifications in other areas of information science to propose and teach additional courses, including at the graduate level.

The candidate filling the position will be rostered with the department faculty and is expected to participate in the governance of the department especially in relation to curricular matters.

$85,000 - $90,000 academic year salary plus benefits.

What We Require

Candidates must have earned a graduate degree in a field relevant to the study of information science and have at least 1-year experience in classroom teaching of undergraduate students in computing- and/or information science-related topics, especially to novices.

What We Would Like You to Have

A Ph.D. or other terminal degree in a relevant field, including Information Science, Computer Science, and others.
