Job Summary

The University of Colorado Boulder and Materials Science & Engineering Program invites applications for a non-tenure track Instructor position to begin Fall 2020. We seek candidates with interdisciplinary teaching interest in Materials Science & Engineering. The candidate should have broad knowledge of the foundations, principles, and application of materials science, including structure, characterization, chemistry, and thermodynamics of materials. Preference will be given to candidates who hold a graduate degree in Materials Science & Engineering.

Who We Are

Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder is an interdisciplinary graduate program granting the MS and PhD degrees. The Program covers a wide range of materials topics including solid state, soft, and structural materials.  Specialties of the Program include materials for energy, regenerative/biomaterials and computational materials science.

The Materials Science and Engineering Program has approximately 70 tenured faculty fellows housed in nine departments across the College Engineering and Applied Science as well as the College of Arts and Sciences.  The program is currently home to 64 PhD and 9 MS students.  More information can be found at https://www.colorado.edu/mse/.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Applicants will be expected to teach up to five (5) graduate courses per academic year, including curriculum development. Applicants will also be responsible for advising student groups and participating in Program committees and initiatives.

The position will provide the opportunity to lead and grow the Program’s Professional Master’s Degree. This may include curriculum development, establishment of industry contacts, forming academic partnerships, and program marketing. Teaching relief may be provided as appropriate.

What We Require

PhD from an accredited university in Materials Science & Engineering or related field.

What You Will Need

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills along with the ability to teach and work in a highly collaborative environment.
