Job Summary

The Department of Geography at the University of Colorado Boulder invites applications for a non-tenure track Teaching Assistant Professor position in Human Geography. A Ph.D. in Geography is preferred, while ABD candidates are also encouraged to apply. The appointment begins August 2022. We seek a human geographer to support the department’s curricular needs in health geographies, development geographies, or political ecology. The successful candidate will also be able to contribute to developing the department’s undergraduate honors and internship programs. Additional teaching will help maintain the continuity of the human geography curriculum, including introductory-level courses in human, regional, or nature-society geographies. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience (gained through your doctoral program or postdoctoral positions), and specializations that complement the Department’s existing Human Geography strengths in the areas of political, economic, cultural, and human-society geographies.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Teach undergraduate courses.
  • Facilitate the Geography internship program. 
  • Help to manage the undergraduate honors program.

This position is a 75%, 9 month appointment with 85/15 (teaching/service) 6 courses per academic year.

The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $61,800.

What We Require

  • Candidates must be ABD in a Ph.D. program, or have a Ph.D. in Geography or related discipline.

What You Will Need

  • Ability to teach both large and small courses at the undergraduate level and effectively assist with the facilitation and administration of the undergraduate internship and honors programs.

What We Would Like You To Have

  • Teaching experience in health geographies, development geographies or political ecology.
