Job Summary

The Program in Environmental Design (ENVD) at the University of Colorado Boulder is pleased to invite applications for a full-time instructor position (non-tenure track) in the Environmental Products of Design major. This positions is expected to begin in January 2022 though a later start date will be considered. Required areas of expertise include planning process and practice, technological applications and urban design. Instructors teach both studio and lecture courses as well as provide support to the core curriculum. The core curriculum covers general knowledge in environmental design disciplines including architecture and landscape architecture. An ideal candidate will bring significant professional experience along with demonstrated teaching excellence.

The program has been cultivating critical and creative thinkers, designers, and planners for over 50 years and has more than 4,300 alumni. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Develop and teach courses at all levels in the curriculum. 
  • Enhance undergraduate scholarly endeavors in addition to training students for careers in professional fields. 
  • The selected candidate will teach a variety of classes including planning-focused studios and advance the program’s focus on the environment and climate.

What You Should Know

  • A typical workload for instructors is 80% teaching and 20% service.
  • All faculty are expected to participate on department committees and in department governance.
  • A research appointment may be considered for the final candidate with published research and strong, ongoing projects.
  • All University of Colorado Boulder employees are required to comply with the campus COVID-19 vaccine requirement. New employees must provide proof of vaccination or receive a medical or religious exemption within 30 days of employment.

What We Can Offer

  • This position is a 9-month/100% full-time equivalent with a salary of $72,000.
  • Summer salary may also be available. A willingness to teach a summer class is a plus.

What We Require

  • Minimum of one academic year of teaching experience, full-time equivalent.
  • A Master’s degree in a relevant field.
