Job Summary

The Department of Advertising, Public Relations and Media Design at the University of Colorado Boulder invites applications for a faculty position at the instructor level in the area of advertising research and analytics to begin August 2019. This is a full-time, benefits eligible, non-tenure-track appointment.

The College of Media Communication and Information, established in 2015, is the first new college on the CU-Boulder campus in 53 years. CMCI prides itself on offering students an interdisciplinary education with a focus on innovation and creativity.  APRD is a fast-growing department focused on innovation, interdisciplinary research, and creativity housed in the College of Media Communication and Information at the University of Colorado Boulder. Our department is home to a nationally-respected advertising program and a new public relations sequence. Our team of full-time, part-time and adjunct faculty bring a unique mix of academic expertise and industry experience to the department.

CU Boulder is a research university with about 25,000 undergraduates and 6,000 graduate students. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

The normal teaching load consists of 6 courses (3 hours each) during a nine-month contract. The position is 75% teaching and 25% service. The successful candidate is also expected to supervise internships and generate student-focused, professional and classroom/department opportunities with industry.

What We Require

A qualified candidate will be well-versed in primary research methods including surveys, focus groups, and interviews. The ideal candidate will also have experience with data mining and be able to analyze website, social media and digital advertising data. Data science experience in Python and R are highly desirable.

The following qualifications are required: 
  • Significant professional experience in designing and executing a broad variety of advertising research projects.
  • Analytics experience in Excel, Google Analytics, Tableau, and Qualtrics.
  • Bachelor’s degree and professional experience.
    • Graduate degree with evidence of academic research in advertising, business, or a related field is highly desirable. 
  • Some evidence of teaching at the college level.
