Job Summary

The Department of Advertising, Public Relations and Media Design (APRD) in the College of Media, Communication and Information (CMCI) at the University of Colorado Boulder invites applications for an Instructor of Technology to begin in August 2019.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of and experience with software associated with the development of creative work and demonstrate the ability to teach software skills in undergraduate-level courses. Additionally, this candidate will have experience managing lab/studio spaces and student staff.

Responsibilities (50% teaching / 50% service):
  • Teaching two courses each semester (software instruction)
  • Design of beginner, intermediate, and advanced-level courses teaching software applications for multiple platforms (print, mobile, social, etc.) and development of instructional materials for these courses
  • Assisting with management of creative studio/lab spaces, including supervision of student staff, proposals to address equipment and supply needs, and consulting as needed with CMCI’s Area of Media, Production and Technology (AMPT) and the CU Office of Instructional Technology (OIT)
  • Providing technology assistance to CMCI faculty, as needed
  • Identifying opportunities for technological innovation and collaborating with AMPT regarding improvements in CMCI classrooms, studio/lab spaces and developing proposals, as needed

What We Require

Preferred candidates will possess:
  • Masters degree in a technology, or a communication-related discipline.
  • Adobe Certified Expert (ACE) or Adobe Certified Associate (ACA) certification or the requisite experience/skills to acquire such credentials. 
  • Minimum of five years’ professional experience using Adobe Creative Cloud and related software in an advertising, public relations or related environment.
  • College-level software instruction experience (with evidence of strong performance).
