Job Summary

Facilities Management's Outdoor Services welcomes applications for Irrigation Technician Lead Worker! This position is responsible for irrigation system operation and maintenance on campus. Snow removal operations during the winter months are another key component of this position. The lead worker will assist with the oversight of three subordinates as well as student employees.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Perform Irrigation, Maintenance, and Installation on Campus Irrigation System
  • Perform inspections as efficiently as possible utilizing tools such as an SOP, handheld radio toning on zones, while inspecting an irrigation system to ensure accurate head performance and coverage. Repair heads, valves, wiring, controllers, lateral pipe and mainline as needed. Responsible for troubleshooting and repair of Network VP irrigation controllers, including antenna placement and diagnosis and will serve as the work leader for this function.
Lynx Irrigation Computer System 
  • Complete minor adjustments in the Lynx irrigation computer system. 
Ditch Maintenance
  • Conduct cleaning of debris at the headgates of the Anderson and Smith Goss ditches to maintain accurate flow for pond replenishment. 
  • Assist with chart recording and digital meter readings when completing the accounting of water usage through ditches and pump stations. 
Snow and Ice Removal
  • Remove snow and ice from streets, parking lots, sidewalks, and curbs. Apply sand/salt or anti-icing chemical mixture using a variety of equipment. 
Maintain Work Vehicle
  • Schedule and request vehicle maintenance with campus motor pool to perform minor maintenance on vehicles and equipment; coordinate as appropriate with outdoor services mechanic for other equipment repairs. 
  • Maintain a constant supply of vehicle stock material for irrigation repairs, as necessary.
  • Implement required safety guidelines and policies built by Human Resources, Facilities Management Safety Committee, the Outdoor Services safety group, and industry-standard methodologies.
Call Back/Essential Services Designation
  • This position may be required to respond to, and/or coordinate with, crew members who respond to after-hours emergency issues, including snow/ice removal; pump station; irrigation mainline; sprinkler zones; ditches; Lynx irrigation computer; radio communication system or other job-related situations. 
Miscellaneous Duties
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as required. Duties may include branch pick up after a storm and grounds support for graduation (running a blower, placing mulch in beds, running a string trimmer, etc.).

Anticipated Starting Salary is $45,421.

What We Require

  • Two years of experience in irrigation inspection, maintenance & repair experience.
  • Must be a current Colorado resident.

What You Will Need

  • Work individually as well as on a team. 
  • Ability to read and decipher irrigation maps and plans.

What We Would Like You To Have

  • Toro Lynx training certification.
  • Crew or lead worker supervisory experience.
