Job Summary

LST Application Administrator and Video Collaboration Service Manager will provide design, transition, day-to-day delivery and continuous improvement of tools offered by OIT's Video Collaboration Service. In addition to serving as technical lead, this Application Administrator and Service Manager will also facilitate the resolution of trouble tickets that cannot be resolved by the Information Technology Service Center. In this role, you will liaise with internal stakeholders and vendors outside of the organization in support of video collaboration services.

As the Service Manager for OIT's Video Collaboration Service, you will have primary accountability for the day-to-day delivery, support, and continual improvement of OIT's Video Collaboration Services with authority to make day-to-day decisions regarding the service. You will also be responsible for initiating, prioritizing, and managing work and projects necessary to deliver and continually improve these services, and for recommending strategic directions regarding OIT's Video Collaboration Service. You’ll also provide core expertise in the areas of web conferencing and classroom capture application administration.

OIT’s Learning Spaces Technology (LST) team provides vital campus-wide support for technology equipped classrooms, as well as defining, revisiting, and revising technology standards for all of our teaching and learning spaces.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Video Collaboration Service Management -- Take the lead role in managing OIT's Video Collaboration Services including: 
  • Service Design
  • Service Transition
  • Service Operation
  • Continual Service Improvement
Classroom Capture Application Administration -- Provide day-to-day management and administration of the Mediasite Classroom Capture infrastructure including servers, application, enterprise storage, monitoring active recordings, EX Server content, and deployed Mediasite recorders. You will also have responsibilities for:
  • Back-end Mediasite server and recorder management. 
  • Trans-coding mediasite content for use in other applications. 
  • Management and administration of redundant hardware recording solutions and associated back-end storage. 
  • Ensure successful mission critical delivery of recorded content using a combination of primary and secondary recording solutions.
  • Direct support of end user base up to 4,000 users
  • Work closely with other LST to ensure incidents are effectively tracked and completed to the customer’s satisfaction.
  • Provide backup service management for Classroom Capture t.
Systems Analyst, including: 
  • Proactively analyzing services to identify service, process, and communication gaps. 
  • Analyze service usage, costs, survey data, and anecdotal feedback to understand demand and needs of campus customers. 
  • Investigate potential changes to services, including vendor changes and system upgrades. 
  • Create draft proposals for service changes related to classroom capture and video conferencing services. 
  • Analyze service interoperability with Teaching and Learning systems and tools such as Learning Management System integration. 
  • Create, contribute to, and routinely review and edit help documentation, FAQs, and OIT web content for supported services. 
  • Identify needs and formulate documentation for internal knowledge base. 
  • Contribute to classroom capture and video conferencing IT Service Continuity Plans.
  • Work closely with other groups in LST to develop internal processes and assist in their implementation.

What We Require

  • A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in a related field. A combination of education and/or related experience may be substituted for the degree on a year for year basis.
  • Three years of professional experience in an IT services organization.

What You Will Need

  • Extensive knowledge of classroom capture and videoconferencing capabilities and systems design.
  • General knowledge of Information Technology (IT) services, hardware, infrastructure and system architecture.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal communication skills, particularly strong customer skills interacting with key stakeholders.

What We Would Like You To Have

  • Lecture capture application administration experience.
  • Video conferencing service management experience.
  • 1 year technical experience as a developer, system integrator, or system administrator.
  • Professional IT experience in higher education.
  • Experience with network storage and archival techniques.
  • Scripting language expertise.
  • Demonstrated technical troubleshooting ability for both AV and IT products.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the convergence of AV and IT. 
  • Experience with AV/IT remote monitoring tools.
  • ITIL Service Management life-cycle knowledge.
  • ITIL v3 certification.
