Job Summary
The University of Colorado Boulder (CU Boulder) Libraries invites applications from collaborative and innovative candidates for the position of Learning Development and Design Librarian! The Learning Development and Design librarian takes a leading role in coordinating, designing, and distributing discrete, reusable, asynchronous learning objects to meet curricular needs and to enhance students’ information literacies and practices. The position will apply learning design principles in the creation and dissemination of learning objects for various platforms and use cases. The Librarian is an active member of the Learning & Engagement Team, sharing responsibility for designing educationally meaningful programming and learning opportunities. This position participates in team commitments and special projects to enhance learning, literacies, and engagement.
As a member of the University Libraries faculty, the Learning Development and Design Librarian will be expected to maintain a record of scholarly research/creative work, participate in professional service activities, and actively engage in faculty governance. This position has the opportunity to work in a hybrid capacity. This is a non-tenure track, Teaching Professor faculty position that will be hired at the Teaching Assistant Professor rank and reports to the Head of the Learning & Engagement section. A typical annual merit formula for teaching professor-track faculty may be 70% librarianship, 10% scholarly and creative work, and 20% service. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
- Create learning opportunities that are hospitable, inclusive, receptive, and welcoming to campus learning communities.
- Establish work flows and practices for the design and maintenance of discrete, reusable, asynchronous learning objects that support learning goals and information practices.
- Establish calendars for on-going assessments, revisions, and updates of a library of learning objects.
- Leverage and develop knowledge of current instructional and educational technologies, Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, emerging pedagogies, instructional design, and/or learning theory to design from a student-centered perspective.
- Apply inclusive learning design principles in the creation of content.
- Provide service points and research consultation services in physical and virtual modalities as meets the needs of the team and libraries.
- Participate in programming that aligns with team priorities, ongoing student welcome activities, and community enrichment as appropriate.
- Support and participate in the team’s programming and learning efforts to liaise with programs and communities that exist between and across disciplinary divisions.
- Participate in special and collaborative projects as a member of the Learning and Engagement Team and perform duties as assigned by the section and team leads.

What We Can Offer
- The successful candidate will be appointed as a full-time (12 month) non-tenure track faculty member at the Teaching Assistant Professor rank. The salary range for Teaching Assistant Professor is $69,000-$73,000. A candidate with seven or more years of professional experience may be eligible for the rank of Teaching Associate Professor with a starting salary range of $76,000-$81,000.
- Relocation assistance may be available within University Libraries guidelines.
- Faculty receives limited professional development funds annually.

- Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution.
