Job Summary

The University of Colorado Boulder encourages applications for a Leave Program Manager! This position plays a pivotal role in coordinating and managing various leave programs for the Boulder Campus. Responsibilities will encompass a wide range of leave types, from FMLA and FAMLI to STD, Catastrophic Leave/Leave Sharing, Vacation, Holiday, Sick leave, and more. This position is crucial for maintaining the smooth operation of leave programs, supporting campus education, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Lead Campus Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Leave:
  • Act as the primary point of contact for leave-related inquiries and guidance.
  • Stay updated on the latest developments and standard processes in leave management.
Reasonable Employer Chair:
  • Foster a culture of being a reasonable employer by accommodating employees' medical and family-related needs to the extent required by law.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures that support a compassionate and fair workplace.
Catastrophic Leave/Leave Sharing Committee Chair:
  • Administer Catastrophic Leave and Leave Sharing programs, ensuring eligible employees can access shared leave when facing severe health or personal crises.
Committee and Team Participation: 
  • Serve on committees, teams, projects, and initiatives related to leave programs on the Boulder Campus.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop, improve, and implement leave policies and procedures.
Supervision and Training:
  • Supervise and manage HR leave coordinators, providing leadership and support.
  • Train HR leave coordinators on standard processes for On the Job Injury (OJI) tracking and management.
  • Serve as a backup for leave coordinators during their absence.
Training and Outreach:
  • Conduct training and outreach activities to educate the HR community on leave programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Disseminate information about available leave options and benefits to eligible employees.
Liaison with System Lead Team (SLT):
  • Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team to ensure the effective management of leave processes on the Boulder Campus.
  • Strong integration with the System Leave Team and regular collaboration. 
  • Provide regular updates and recommendations to streamline leave operations.
Campus Education:
  • Develop and deliver educational programs on leave programs, including FMLA, FAMLI, and other relevant policies.
  • Assist employees in understanding their rights and responsibilities regarding leave.
Leave Communication and Legislative Updates: 
  • Keep the Boulder Campus community informed about leave-related changes, legislation, and updates.
  • Collaborate with HR teams to ensure compliance with the latest legal requirements.

What You Should Know

  • This position will work a hybrid format with some in person days and some remote.

What We Can Offer

  • Annual salary is $65,000 to $67,100.

What We Require

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field OR an equivalent combination of education and experience that can substitute on a year for year basis for the degree. 
  • 2 years of related, professional experience that includes some human resources experience administering leave programs.

  • Knowledge of leave programs and HR compliance. 
  • Strong communication skills. 
  • Organization and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to supervise, coach and train. 
  • Significant attention to details. 
  • Emotional intelligence.
  • Adaptability and flexibility.

What We Would Like You to Have

  • Experience administering on the job injury, worker's comp, ADA and/or benefits.
  • Experience in leave case management, managing complex overlapping program, and communicating complex concepts to employees. 
  • Experience with training or education around leave.
