Job Summary

The Colorado Space Grant Consortium (COSGC) encourages applications for a Manager of Student Projects! This position provides leadership and coordination of all student project activities and develops and leads training programs for all students. The Manager also advises, mentors, and evaluates students in all areas related to technical aspects of systems for payloads and spacecraft. The position coordinates and facilitates statewide design challenge programming and assists with the annual student research symposium. The position also provides support to the Director and Program Manager in areas related to daily operation of COSGC and helps maintain the physical infrastructure of COSGC facilities.

Who We Are

The COSGC is a statewide program that provides an interdisciplinary community of Colorado students with NASA-aligned experiences in space, near-space, and Earth-based research to prepare them for our Nation’s future space programs.  We are funded by NASA as part of the National Space Grant Program.  Black, Indigenous, and People of Color are encouraged to apply.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Academic Support:
  • Manage and mentor COSGC year-long student projects.
  • Lead the WARP-SPEED program, during the fall and spring semesters.
  • Manage independent study & volunteer students for the spring, fall, summer semesters in compliance with all stated requirements in COSGC's Academic Policy and based on direction from COSGC's Director.
  • Maintain all student academic records and reports.
  • Build and maintain relationships with engineering student societies that work with students from populations historically underrepresented in STEM fields.
  • Facilitate COSGC hands-on workshops and manage virtual workshop platforms.
  • Possess knowledge about all support services and educational programs on campus, and refer students to these as appropriate.
  • Alongside the Director this position will manage student recruitment for all phases of COSGC's Student Hands-On Programs
  • Support payload projects (RockSat, HASP, etc.) with the help of a student project manager and the Director.
  • Support student design reviews and COSGC sponsored student functions (i.e. Graduation parties, Open Houses, and Statewide events such as launches and Symposium).
  • Attend weekly COSGC staff meetings, yearly staff retreats, and COSGC Advisory Board meetings.
  • Participate in COSGC planning and mid-semester paid student performance reviews.
  • Enhance hands-on learning and research opportunities for students through new programs and initiatives.
  • Coordinate presentations and visits by national-level and local public officials, industry leaders, university administrators, and prospective students.
  • Engage industry representatives and Space Grant alumni to maintain connections with COSGC students and programming.
Other:
  • Serve on department/program, college, and university committees, as assigned.
  • Participate in professional development activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What We Can Offer

Starting salary range is $69,460 - $82,800. Relocation assistance is available within CEAS guidelines.

What We Require

  • Bachelors degree in relevant science or engineering field.
  • Three years experience in STEM education and/or aerospace engineering.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.

What You Will Need

  • Excellent technical and interpersonal skills, writing skills, and presentation and communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Familiar with academic policies and procedures.
  • Previous experience and/or desire to work and mentor college students.
  • Interest related to NASA and aerospace industry.

What We Would Like You to Have

  • Master's or PhD degree in relevant science or engineering field.
  • Three years experience in aerospace engineering or in the aerospace industry.
  • Experience teaching or leading students.
