Job Summary

The Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics is searching for a Mechanical Engineer on multiple instrument proposal efforts. This role will be to invent solutions to complex mechanical design challenges. Additionally, depending on workload, this person will be assigned to an active program.

Responsibilities include:
  • Interfacing with a multi-disciplinary team
  • Documenting interfaces and requirements
  • Generating mechanical solutions for various proposal efforts
  • Modeling hardware in SolidWorks
  • Performing other mechanical engineering tasks including mass properties, harness routing, simple analysis, production planning, creating drawings, etc.

What We Require

  • BS or higher degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited institution and a minimum of 10 years of experience
  • Due to Export Control Restrictions, only US Citizens and Permanent Residents may apply

  • CAD design experience with SolidWorks
  • Experience creating mechanical drawings
  • Ability to function well in a team based environment
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Resourcefulness and creativity
  • Knowledgeable of spaceflight instruments, mechanisms and spacecraft
  • Ability to take personal responsibility for projects and work independently

What We Would Like You To Have

  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Previous experience working on proposals a plus
