Job Summary


As Messaging and Collaboration Program Manager you will oversee the day-to-day delivery, support, and continual improvement of Messaging and Collaboration services for the entire campus.This will include:
  • Supervising the Messaging and Collaboration team in supporting and continually improving all aspects of our services.
  • Making day-to-day decisions regarding the services.
  • Initiating, prioritizing, and managing work and projects necessary to deliver and continually improve services.
  • Developing and proposing strategic priorities and direction for M&C services and presenting them to OIT and Enterprise Services leadership.   
As Program Manager, you'll develop an understanding of current and future objectives for M&C services and determine how best to organize and manage your team to meet them.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Management and leadership of the Messaging & Collaboration team
  • Oversee on-going value and effectiveness of the M&C services through budget and people management best practices. 
  • Work with OIT Budget and Finance and OIT leadership, establish a prudent budget, based on program objectives, and effectively manage to it. 
  • Manage day-to-day service operations using Agile principles to effectively organize and communicate work assignments.
  • Participate in ongoing development of standardized service management processes.
  • Supervise a team of IT professionals to assure service value. 
Vendor Management
  • Manage relationships and service level performance of vendors and other service providers. 
Strategic Relationship Management & Planning 
  • Use feedback from customers, stakeholders, and campus leadership. to propose strategic priorities and directions for services. 
  • Participate in and facilitate strategic planning activities and provide analysis on how to implement plans and the impact of plans to budget and staffing.
Service Administration
  • Responsible for the administration and operation of OIT enterprise messaging and collaboration services including: 
    • Monitoring and ensuring service availability and reliability. 
    • Determining necessary corrective actions for service events.
    • Ensuring ongoing capacity and performance management.
    • Providing service configuration, patch, and upgrade management. 
    • Identifying, recommending and implementing continual service improvement initiatives.
    • Determine necessary implementation solutions and configuration changes. 
    • Determine and take appropriate actions necessary for service restoration.
    • Provide in-depth technical analysis, recommendations, and implementation of service improvements.
  • Advanced Messaging and Collaboration Technical Support 


What You Should Know

In this role you will participate in a formal on-call rotation with definitive response times; the likelihood of the on-call employee having to come on-site to respond/manage the issue/incident is low. When not on call, you will be expected to respond in a reasonable (though not definitive) amount of time when called outside working hours regarding issues and incidents that arise.

What We Require

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information System, or similar area of study from an accredited institution or a combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
  • 5 years experience as an IT Analyst, Program, Product, or Project manager including:
    • Defining services or products, 
    • Requirements management and prioritization, and 
    • Responding to direct customer feedback. 
  • 3 years of supervisory experience or project leadership (technical and/or personnel).

What You Will Need

  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills, particularly strong customer skills interacting with key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of messaging & collaboration concepts and products.
  • Ability to develop and manage departmental budgets and related financial information.
  • Commitment to setting direction for a program that aligns with the business strategic plan.
  • Willingness to engage and collaborate in higher education IT communities.
  • Messaging and Collaboration tool skillset experience (GSuite and/or Office 365).

What We Would Like You To Have

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited institution OR 7 years experience as a senior analyst, product, or program manager.
  • 1 year IT project management experience using Agile methodology.
  • 1 year technical experience as a developer, system integrator, or system administrator.
  • ITIL v3 certification.
