Job Summary

The Niwot Ridge Long Term Ecological Research group is looking for a summer field technician to assist with inventorying and mapping the forest permanent plot network at our research site on Niwot Ridge.

Our traditional focus has been on alpine, Arctic, and Antarctic regions, where effects of global change are especially pronounced. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • This NWT Field Technician position will be responsible for leading efforts to inventory the Niwot Ridge permanent forest plot network.

$30/hour - $35/hour.

What We Require

  • Previous experience collecting forest ecology data in subalpine forests of North America.

What You Will Need

  1. Strong attention to detail.
  2. Demonstrated ability to self-motivate and help keep your team motivated when challenges arise.
  3. The ability to drive 4WD vehicles on rough uneven terrain.
  4. Knowledge of back country travel and safety practices, or willingness to learn; including CPR, basic and/or wilderness first aid.

What We Would Like You to Have

  1. Enrollment in a graduate program in ecology, forestry, or a related field.
  2. Experience or interest in collecting hydrologic trait data from conifers.
