Job Summary

This position will lead the Boulder Chickadee Study, coordinate the monitoring of ~150 nest boxes, and band and take blood samples from and adult chickadees and chicks from these nest boxes. The majority of field work will take place at the University of Colorado Mountain Research Station.

As the University's oldest institute, INSTAAR has a long history of responding to pressing environmental issues including climate change. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Monitor nest boxes, track breeding status, band chicks on day 12, band adults prior to or around day 12, take morphological measurements from all chicks and adults, take small blood samples from all chicks and adults, and supervise one or more undergraduate students.

What We Can Offer

$20/hour - $25/hour.

What We Require

  • Proficient at bird banding and taking blood samples from small birds.
  • A bachelor's degree. 

What You Will Need

  • Significant bird banding and blood sampling experience.

What We Would Like You to Have

  • Experience supervising undergraduate students.
