Job Summary

Health Promotion encourages applications for an Outreach Coordinator! The coordinator prioritizes outreach requests, scheduling and coordinating professional and student staff for outreach events that promote health and wellness among college students. The coordinator supervises and schedules HealthBuffs peer educators, providing staffing for outreach, presentations, and related programming to student organizations and campus partners.

Who We Are

Health Promotion, part of Health and Wellness Services within the CU Boulder Division of Student Affairs, provides outreach and education on a variety of health topics. We support students in learning skills to make informed decisions about their health to help them succeed while in school and beyond! Health Promotion collaborates with student groups and campus departments in providing programs and services that positively influence student health.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Outreach

  • Plan and implement weekly Health Promotion signature programs such as Health Hut as well as other events/activities that improve student well-being, including coordination of program logistics.
  • Respond to and coordinate requests from campus departments and organizations for health education and outreach activities, including providing presentations and health workshops.
  • Assess the achievement of learning outcomes for outreach activities and identify potential areas of improvement.
  • Represent Health Promotion in campus-wide student-facing events and programs.
  • Ensure alignment with health education and prevention standard methodologies in outreach activities.
  • Work together with Health Promotion staff to plan HealthBuffs team meetings, set shared expectations of peer educators, and encourage collaboration across topic areas.

Supervision

  • Set goals, evaluate and provide daily supervision for 10-12 HealthBuffs student peer educators to achieve outreach and student learning objectives.
  • Provide project oversight for outreach peer educators.

Projects and Professional Development

  • Support other Student Affairs, Health Promotion and Health and Wellness Services programs and initiatives.
  • Participate in relevant professional development opportunities.

What You Should Know

This position has the opportunity for hybrid work (both on-campus and remote work hours). Minimal evening and weekend work is required.

What We Can Offer

The salary range for this position is $45,000 - $57,000 annually. Onboarding assistance is available within Student Affairs division guidelines.

What We Require

  • Bachelor's degree or higher degree in health promotion, public health, higher education, or a related field. A combination of experience and/or education will substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
  • One year of work experience in program development.
  • Experience working with a college-age population.
  • Ability to serve as a trainer for the NASPA certified peer educator curriculum or to become trained as one.

What We Would Like You To Have

  • Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) and/or Certified in Public Health (CPH)
  • Master’s degree in higher education, public health, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of college student development theory.
