Job Summary
CU Boulder CAPS is looking to fill our two psychology postdoctoral fellowship positions, each focusing on clinical services with the opportunity to select a particular area of concentration. Fellows will provide direct clinical services, including group and individual psychotherapy, case management, initial screening assessments, and crisis intervention. Fellows will attend multidisciplinary seminars and meetings and conduct outreach and community engagement activities. All postdoctoral fellows receive a minimum of 1 hour of primary supervision weekly and 30 minutes of track-specific supervision.
Fellows can select a particular track of clinical focus throughout the training year. Applicants are invited to identify the track(s) which interest them:
- In the Crisis Care and Triage track, the postdoc will provide triage sessions to CU Boulder students in crisis and post-hospital case management disposition sessions. The postdoc will also join the Crisis/Triage Team meetings, co-facilitate an intensive DBT group, have the opportunity to be involved in continuously updating crisis/triage workflow processes in a large university clinic, maintain a caseload of generalist clients, and receive further training and didactic experiences within crisis intervention, professional issues, and diversity, equity, & inclusion.
- In the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) track, the postdoc provides outreach and clinical services to multi-culturally diverse and historically under-represented student populations. The postdoc develops relationships with campus partners to develop strategies for best serving underrepresented students. The postdoc is encouraged to complete a project of their choice related to growing access, reducing barriers, and offering culturally appropriate services to underrepresented students. Additionally, they will maintain a caseload of generalist clients and receive further training and didactic experiences within professional issues and diversity, equity, & inclusion.
- In the CAPS Counselor-in-Residence (CIR) track, the postdoc supports Residence Life staff in addressing the mental health concerns of student residents. The postdoc develops responsive, preventative mental health programming, provides psychoeducation to Residence Life staff on mental health topics, fosters relationships with staff and residents, maintains a caseload of generalist clients, and receives further training and didactic experiences within professional issues and diversity, equity, & inclusion. The postdoc collaborates with the Embedded Team at CAPS to provide outreach and community engagement initiatives related to student residents.
- In the Behavioral Health track, the fellow works alongside CAPS' Behavioral Health Team to offer integrated care to CU students. This position has opportunities to offer behavioral health interventions to students, collaborate with medical professionals within CU's Medical Services, maintain a caseload of generalist clients, and receive further training and didactic experiences within behavioral health, professional issues, and diversity, equity, & inclusion. The fellow also facilitates at least one therapy group each semester and other behavioral health-related training opportunities within CAPS and/or CU's Medical Services.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Direct clinical services: Conduct individual and group psychotherapy; brief screening/triage assessments; initial therapy assessment, case management, and crisis intervention. Track-specific clinical duties (e.g. co-facilitating track-specific groups, outreaches, and community engagement).
Training and administration: Receive weekly supervision, attend assigned program meetings, and write electronic clinical notes. Participate in CAPS training program activities and attend multidisciplinary didactic seminars.
What You Should Know
Postdocs are expected to work 40 hours a week and are offered certain flexibility in choosing those hours within our hours of operation: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.
This is a 12-month limited-term position (anticipated August 4, 2025-August 3, 2026).
This role offers the opportunity to work in a hybrid modality, with options for limited remote work available.

What We Require
- Completed doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology by start date.
- Completion of an APA-accredited internship by start date.
- One year, full-time (or two-year half-time) supervised internship experience delivering individual and group psychotherapy including initial evaluation, crisis intervention and clinical case management.
- Registered as a Psychologist Candidate with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) by or within the first week of the start date if selected for the position. Not required to apply.
