Job Summary
Who We Are
The University of Colorado at Boulder, and the city of Boulder, offers a rich intellectual, cultural, recreational, and family-friendly environment. Boulder is widely recognized as an entrepreneurial hub, with active venture capital, technology, natural foods, and renewable energy sectors; it is consistently recognized as one of the best places to live in the United States.
The University of Colorado and the Leeds School of Business are nationally recognized for the excellence of our faculty, programs, and students. By joining the interdisciplinary Center for Research on Consumer Financial Decision Making, you will be part of a collegial and influential group of business scholars with the highest standards of research excellence.
The Center conducts basic and applied research about how consumer welfare is affected by financial decisions that take place in systems created by business and government policies. People make decisions about housing and mortgages; save for college education or retirement; invest in their own human capital development to provide a stream of financial benefits over time; borrow to fund current consumption; decide which debts to pay first and how much to pay on each. They make risky investments to achieve higher wealth; pay for insurance to reduce risk; pay for health care; and cope with shocks. In all these domains, consumers are often poorly informed and susceptible to making serious errors that have immediate and delayed personal and societal consequences. Center research advances understanding of how consumers make such decisions and how they can be helped to make better decisions through innovations in public policy, business, and consumer education. The Leeds School Research Initiative for Global Business and Citizen Well Being will consider how businesses and governments around the world take different approaches to these universal human challenges and the associated differences in citizen well-being.
