Job Summary

The Department of Computer Science at CU Boulder welcomes applications for a PostDoctoral Associate. For this project, the PostDoctoral Associate will investigate and develop diffusion models to study the evolution of internal transport dynamics among zooid networks in bryozoan colonies. The start date for this appointment may be as early as December 1, 2024.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Model development, empirical estimation of model parameters, testing theory against fossil and experimental data, and proposal development.

What You Should Know

The PostDoctoral Associate will be expected to work with both Dr. Rebecca Morrison's lab in the Computer Science Department, and Dr. Carl Simpson's lab in the Geology Department and the Museum of Natural History.

What We Can Offer

The annual salary for this position will be $65,000.

What We Require

  • Completed PhD in computer science with experience in geology/paleobiology applications.
OR
  • Completed PhD in geology/paleobiology with CS and applied math experience.

What You Will Need

  • Technical skills in linear algebra and differential equations.
  • Experience in R, Python, and/or C++ language.
  • Experience in network analysis and working with the fossil record.

What We Would Like You to Have

  • Experience in journal publications and proposal development.
