Job Summary

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to will leverage the virtual and augmented reality test environments created to support testing and training on future user interfaces for first responders. You will be responsible for identifying metrics and tasks to include in various scenarios and assist the primary investigator in developing and executing user studies.

Who We Are

The Professional Research Experience Program (PREP) is a special partnership between the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the University of Colorado Boulder.  PREP provides research opportunities to CU undergraduate and graduate students, as well as researchers with a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in NIST labs to gain research experience alongside NIST scientists.

The particular group that needs a researcher is the Network Operations Group in the Public Safety Communications Research Division at NIST.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Work as senior member of team in conducting applied research in the areas of decision making, human cognition, expert performance, cognitive performance improvement and assessment.
  • Research cognitive requirements, development of measures for cognitive performance, and the development of competency models.
  • Lead and contribute to team research and development efforts in the areas of assessing performance of user interfaces using virtual and augmented reality technologies

What We Require

  • PhD degree in Psychology, Human Factors, or related cognitive science field.
  • Experience with data collection involving human subjects.

What We Would Like You To Have

  • Familiarity with virtual and augmented reality technologies.
  • Experience with data visualization.
  • Experience with statistical analysis.
