Dr. Wyatt Shields’s Lab at the University of Colorado Boulder in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral associate to work on projects in the areas of human organs-on-a-chip and immunomodulation.

The Shields Lab focuses on engineering systems to understand human physiology and improve efforts in biosensing and drug delivery. Current projects in the Shields Lab involve materials engineering, immunoengineering, and colloidal science. More information about the Shields Lab can be found at

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • The candidate will be responsible for conducting research in the areas of human organs-on-a-chip, immunomodulation, epigenomics, and transcriptomics.
  • The Candidate will also be responsible for coordinating collaborative efforts across universities, mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, disseminating results through publications and conference talks, and performing other laboratory duties.

$48,805.00 to $51,195.00.

What We Require

  1. A Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Immunology, or a related field by the time of appointment.
  2. Expertise in fabricating organ-on-a-chip devices. Preference will be given to candidates who have a background in, or strong familiarity with, immunology and cellular biology.
  3. Experience in microfabrication, mammalian cell culture, microfluidics, flow cytometry, PCR, and ELISA.
  4. Strong track record of publications in high-impact journals.
  5. Self-motivated and organized. Strong oral and written communication skills. An ability to conduct research independently and to work collaboratively with other researchers within the lab and at other universities.
