Job Summary

Applications are invited to fill a postdoctoral position at the intersection of immunology, biomaterials, and tissue engineering. This project is led by Prof. Stephanie J. Bryant in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, the Materials Science and Engineering Program, and the BioFrontiers Institute.

 The successful applicant will pursue and participate in research in a highly collaborative team environment.

 Specific areas of expertise desired include: 
  • Innate immunology with a focus on myeloid cell biology (e.g., macrophages and neutrophils).
  • Small animal model handling for in vivo studies.
  • Cell culture and various biochemical and molecular biology assays (e.g., ELISAs, qPCR, flow cytometry, proteomics, etc.).
  • Biomaterials, tissue engineering, and/or regenerative biology.

Who We Are

The Biomaterials and Functional Tissue Engineering laboratory led by Prof. Bryant develops novel biomimetic materials for medical devices and regenerative medicine with the goal of translating these technologies into humans. A major focus of this lab is on musculoskeletal and vascular tissues and understanding the role of the immune system to implanted biomaterials for medical device and tissue engineering applications. 

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Perform research related to immunological responses to biomaterials (i.e., literature searches, design experiments, execute experiments to include in vitro and animal studies, analyze data, interpret results).
  • Prepare written progress reports.
  • Participate in project meetings (including presenting on research progress).
  • Work collaboratively with team members in the research group and with collaborators.
  • Prepare and write manuscripts for publication of research.
  • Presents research findings at conferences.

What We Can Offer

The salary range for this position is $60,000-$70,000 annually. Salary will be commensurate with prior post-doctoral or related experience.

What We Require

Applicants should have a PhD in immunology, biology, bioengineering, biomedical engineering, biology, chemical engineering, or related fields.

What We Would Like You to Have

Applicants may have either recently completed their PhD or have at most 1-2 years prior post-doctoral experience.

Specific areas of expertise desired include:
