Who We Are

College of Arts and Sciences - The College is the intellectual core of the university, conducting research, scholarship, creative work and education in more than 60 fields. Department of Physics - The Department includes 54 tenured and tenure-track faculty performing cutting-edge research. Its graduate physics program draws ~1200 applications per year and is ranked by the National Research Council to be among the top 15 overall. The Department appears as high as 12th worldwide in international rankings of university Physics Departments. The department is strongly affiliated with centers and institutes such as JILA, a research institute administered jointly by NIST and the University of Colorado, and the Center for Theory of Quantum Matter, as well as with nearby National Laboratories (NIST and NREL), offering world-class facilities and broad opportunities for research collaboration.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • The Postdoctoral researcher will work on biophysical experimental problems related to mucus mechanics and transport, mucus-bacteria and mucus-cilia interactions. The researcher is expected to design and run experiments, collaborate with lab members, and write papers.

What You Should Know

  • The position is for one year with the possibility of extension for additional years depending on the availability of funds and mutual agreement. The anticipated position start date is August 17, 2026.

What We Can Offer

The hiring rate for this position is $66,000 annually and the reimbursement of relocation expenses up to $2,000.

What We Require

  • PhD in Biophysics, Physics, Chemical engineering, Biomedical engineering, Biology, or related discipline, and interdisciplinary background.
  • Experience with experimental biophysics or soft matter.
  • Experience with image processing, particle detection and tracking, and data analysis, or, strong coding skills that would allow them to learn it quickly.
  • Must have writing skills, having written most of their papers.

What We Would Like You to Have

  • Experience with Air Liquid Interphase (ALI) cell cultures or bacterial cultures. Experience with microscopy. Understanding of fluid dynamics and active matter.
