Job Summary

The primary role of the Research Procurement Expediter is to process and facilitate a wide variety of procurements for both goods and services required for the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics, LASP. The position requires attention to detail, good communication and customer service skills, and the ability to assimilate new commodities and processes while managing a multitude of requests that support numerous research programs and ongoing operations. This position operates within the Administration department within LASP and supports all areas within the department.

Who We Are

The Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) at the University of Colorado Boulder (CU) began in 1948, a decade before NASA. We are the world’s only research institute to have sent instruments to all eight planets and Pluto.

LASP combines all aspects of space exploration through our expertise in science, engineering, mission operations, and scientific data analysis. As part of CU, LASP also works to educate and train the next generation of space scientists, engineers and mission operators by integrating undergraduate and graduate students into working teams. Our students take their unique experiences with them into government or industry, or remain in academia to continue the cycle of exploration.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Works within multiple software systems, both at the department and University level, to perform job functions.
  • Prepares purchase orders and requests by entering information, gathering quotes, obtaining appropriate approvals, and communicating with necessary contacts (vendors, end users, etc.). Forwards, monitors, verifies, expedites, and closes procurements as required.
  • Ability and capacity to communicate and work with various University entities during certain stages of the procurement process. This can include, but not be limited to, PSC, OCG, SPA, etc.
  • Collaborates and communicates with both new and experienced requestors on information required for procurement requests. ? Gathers necessary information and prepares materials for competitive solicitations or for requests that require a sole source justification.
  • Applies various University of Colorado and State of Colorado pricing agreements for goods and services and knows when they are applicable.
  • Processes small dollar procurements and works directly with PSC on large dollar procurements.
  • Resolves shipments and invoices in error with suppliers as required.
  • Documents and updates procurement policies and procedures as needed.
  • Trains new employees and other personnel as needed.
  • Align with applicable Federal, State, and University policies and regulations.

The salary range for this position is $55,641.13 - $77,951.03. We offer a generous retirement plan that includes 200% matching for the first 5% contributed with immediate vesting.

What We Require

  • A BS Degree.
  • A minimum of three years' baseline purchasing experience.
  • Experience using purchasing and production software systems.
  • Experience with fundamental purchasing procedures such as sole sourcing, solicitations of goods and services, pricing agreements, etc.
  • Procurement experience in a highly controlled and high quality environment.

What You Will Need

  • Basic knowledge and experience with Federal and State purchasing policies and practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple procurements and familiarity with a variety of procurement commodities. Manufacturing and computer and software purchasing experience is helpful.
  • High level of self-direction with high attention to detail. The ability to manage various tasks and duties each day is necessary.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills. Ability to collaborate with various internal and external customers for various needs in the area in a courteous, helpful, and professional manner.
  • Must be able to work with and train others if additional resources are required due to increased requirements and workload.

What We Would Like You To Have

  • Previous experience in an aerospace environment is preferred.
