Job Summary

 The University of Colorado’s Center for Health and Neuroscience, Genes, and Environment (CUChange) has an available Professional Research Assistant and Phlebotomist position.

Who We Are

The University of Colorado’s Center for Health and Addiction: Neuroscience, Genes and Environment (CUChange) has an available half-time Professional Research Assistant and position. We are a motivated team that conducts transdisciplinary research exploring factors linked with health and risk behavior in regard to exercise, Cannabis use, and alcohol consumption. 

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Assist with study participant recruitment and screening, leading study visits including informed consent, performing blood draw, urine, and breathalyzer tests, conducting cognitive, self-report, and motor battery tasks with study participants, and driving a mobile laboratory (Dodge Sprinter) to study appointments. Capable of working effectively and respectfully with regular Cannabis users ranging from 21 to 70 years old, with a variety of backgrounds, lifestyles, and personalities.

What We Require

  • Bachelor’s degree, in psychology, neuroscience, life sciences, or other related field.
  • Phlebotomy certification or equivalent.
  • Experience handling biohazardous materials such as human blood, stool, and saliva samples.
  • Experience conducting human subjects research appointments and eligibility screenings.
  • Valid driver’s license.

What You Will Need

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with study staff, postdoctoral researchers, undergraduates, principle investigators, and other laboratories.

What We Would Like You To Have

  • Experience driving light commercial vehicles.
  • REDCap project design and management.
  • Literacy in R/RStudio, SPSS, Qualtrics.
  • Wet lab experience (Extraction of peripheral blood mononuclear cells from whole blood, qPCR, real time PCR, sandwich and bead-based ELISA, Flow Cytometry).
