Job Summary

This position is for a Professional Research Assistant in the laboratory of the principal investigator, Professor Theodore Randolph. The candidate will conduct a variety of biochemical and biophysical assays related to determining optimal formulation conditions for therapeutic proteins and vaccines. The candidate will use a number of analytical techniques in the laboratory. Many techniques will be based on standard biochemical assays, while others will require use of custom equipment and specialized experimental protocols for which the candidate will receive training.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Main duties include conducting protein stability assays, carefully recording data including experimental results and experimental conditions. Results of experiments and relevant experimental details will be reported in weekly research discussion meetings and in written reports. Lab management duties are shared with the laboratory group, and include maintaining stocks of supplies and reagents, maintaining chemical safety.

What You Should Know

The position does not require travel.  Work hours are standard 9-5, but can be flexible with mutual work-agreement.

What We Require

  • B.S. level degree in biological sciences or engineering.

What You Will Need

  • Good biochemical laboratory skills
  • Ability to rapidly learn new analytical techniques
  • Familiarity with basic manipulations of computer spreadsheets (e.g., Excel). 

What We Would Like You To Have

  • Experience with conducting biochemical and biophysical assays in a laboratory setting.
  • Experience handling proteins and protein assays, including electrophoresis gel assays, chromatographic analyses.
