Job Summary

The Clinical Translational Research Center (CTRC) at the University of Colorado Boulder is currently seeking an Exercise Physiologist with experience in graded and submaximal exercise testing.  This is a limited term employment opportunity of 6 to 9 months at full time and then possible continuation at 50% of time.

This position provides services for our Integrative Physiology Core Laboratory (IPCL) by providing measurements, technical assistance and additional procedures on research volunteers.   Services are also provided to the athletic and educational community at CU. 

Who We Are

The CTRC is a support center for faculty involved in clinical research. We provide resources to facilitate a safe environment for human biomedical research.

The CTRC is part of the Colorado Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CCTSI) at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.  The CCTSI was created in 2008 with funding from the Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) initiative of the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • GXT, VO2 max and submaximal testing via treadmill and bike.
  • ECG interpretation at rest and during exercise.
  • Resting and exercising blood pressure assessment via auscultation.
  • Resting Metabolic Rate assessment.
  • Body Composition (DXA, Skin folds, waist to hip ratio).
  • Administer activity questionnaires.
  • Exercise prescription and supervision of training.
  • Computer data entry (PC computer, Windows 7, Microsoft Word, Excel).
  • Physical Activity monitoring via Heart Rate Monitors and accelerometers (initializing/instruction/downloading).
  • Help with laboratory setup and take down for different protocols.
  • Calibration, cleaning and preventative maintenance of equipment.
  • Order supplies.
  • Writing policies and procedures.
  • Provide assistance for clinical research training related to these procedures.
  • Review and provide feedback on potential research protocols that utilize IPCL services.
  • Assist daily with other tasks as needed including scheduling, checking in participants, etc.
  • Interact with the Exercise Phys Class 2 days each semester for demonstrations.

  • 100% full-time position with a salary ranging from $38,000-$43,000 commensurate with skills and experience.

What We Require

  • Bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology, or related field.
  • Experience in performing measurements related to exercise and applied physiology on human patients.

What You Will Need

  • Ability to work self-directed, strong work ethic.
  • Good communication skills (both verbal & written).
  • Ability to develop positive relationships among diverse groups of people in various settings.
  • Flexibility to work up to 2 Saturdays a month as needed.
