Job Summary

The position will support a NIST research project in machine learning concerning Generative Adversarial Network (GAN) performance assessment for the Summer of 2019.

Who We Are

The Professional Research Experience Program (PREP) is a special partnership between the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the University of Colorado Boulder.  PREP provides research opportunities to CU undergraduate and graduate students, as well as researchers with a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in NIST labs to gain research experience alongside NIST scientists.

The particular group that needs a researcher is the Communication Test Coordination office in the Communications Technology Laboratory at NIST.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Job duties include, but are not limited to: 
  • Implementing research as guided by the research team leads.
  • Preparing technical documents for publication in internal and external venues (such as journals and conferences). 
  • Collaborating with NIST staff on methodological research in GAN performance evaluation. 
  • Preparing research findings for publication.

What We Require

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM related field.
  • Proficiency in software development using Python.
  • Familiarity with machine learning and associated libraries, e.g., Scikit-learn.
  • Experience with at least one Deep Learning framework, e.g., TensorFlow, Keras.
  • Willingness to build new expertise as needed.

What We Would Like You To Have

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
