The work will focus on calibrations, uncertainty analyses and best practices related to over-the-air measurements of systems that utilize complex modulated signals. Master’s Level: With NIST staff, develop advanced analysis techniques and interpretation of measurement results. Post Doc Level: Apply advanced statistical techniques for analysis and interpretation of measurement results, including correlations between measured data.

Who We Are

The Professional Research Experience Program (PREP) is a special partnership between the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the University of Colorado Boulder. PREP provides research opportunities to CU undergraduate and graduate students, as well as researchers with a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in NIST labs to gain research experience alongside NIST scientists.

The particular group that needs a researcher is the Shared Spectrum Metrology Group in the RF Technology Division at NIST.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Develop and apply improved measurement techniques for rapid, accurate testing of wireless devices in highly reflective, spatially diverse environments.
  • Work as a team to apply and extend statistical analysis methods and uncertainty techniques for correlated measurement data.
  • Disseminate research and best practices to the internet-of-things and wireless- telecommunications industries through publications, direct interactions with partners and consensus standards bodies as appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with researchers inside and outside of NIST.

What You Should Know

A commitment of two years is preferred.
