Job Summary

The newly established Vignesh Kasinath lab is a biochemistry and structural cell biology lab that is interested in deciphering how multi-component protein assemblies regulate chromosome architecture and gene expression. All the research projects in the lab are directly related to cancer and neurological disorders and hence research in the lab is inter-disciplinary using several techniques including those in cell biology, biochemistry, confocal microscopy, cryo-electron microscopy, and other biophysical methods.

This position has a particular focus on confocal microscopy, cell biology, and cryo-electron tomography training and research. Candidates who would like to develop experience in structural biology and cell biology will benefit from this position and will have the opportunity to develop new skills, and more importantly, develop and formulate the research project. The candidate’s project will involve visualization and characterize protein-nucleic acid assemblies that mediate chromosome organization during cell division.
