Job Summary

The Barth Laboratory at the University of Colorado Boulder encourages applications for a Professional Research Assistant! The Research Associate will work with members of the Barth laboratory in performing rat brain surgeries, implants of electrophysiology electrodes and Miniscope lenses, and recording and analysis of these electrical and fluorescence signals of neuronal activation.

Who We Are

The Barth Laboratory is in the C.U. Department of Psychology and Neuroscience. Our research is concerned with animal models of human epilepsy. We also study a developmental model of comorbid autism and epilepsy. The laboratory uses both electrophysiological and optical imaging techniques.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Work with members of the Barth laboratory in performing rat brain surgeries, implants of electrophysiology electrodes and Miniscope lenses, and recording and analysis of these electrical and fluorescence signals of neuronal activation.

Training will be provided but this position requires a minimum commitment of two years.

The salary for this full-time position is $40,000 annually.

What We Require

  • A Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience or a related scientific field is required.

What We Would Like You To Have

  • A basic understanding of neuroscience is desirable.
  • Skills in laboratory chemistry.
  • Some experience with electrophysiology, fluorescence spectroscopy, data analysis programs, rodent brain surgeries, or cryostatic microtome histology is desirable but not required.
