We are seeking a full-time research technician for a biochemistry laboratory studying gene expression.

Who We Are

The Goodrich/Kugel lab is part of the Biochemistry Department at the University of Colorado Boulder, located on East Campus in the JSCB building. We study how gene expression is regulated, using both in vitro biochemical approaches and experiments in cells. Unraveling fundamental mechanisms that regulate gene expression is essential for understanding normal cellular growth, metabolism, and development. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

The position involves primarily research, with some lab maintenance responsibilities. Research will be focused on understanding processes important for gene expression. Experiments will involve, but are not limited to: protein expression and purification, in vitro binding and activity assays, use of data analysis software, PCR, cloning, and use of a TIRF microscope. The lab maintenance responsibilities could include ordering lab supplies, overseeing the laboratory waste disposal, and/or dealing with day-to-day issues associated with ongoing research in the laboratory.

What We Can Offer

The salary for this full-time position is $44,000 - $45,000 annually.

What We Require

  • A Bachelors degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, or a related field.

What You Will Need

  • A strong interest in research and enthusiasm for learning. High level of organization and responsibility, strong communication skills, and effective time management. A working knowledge of basic software (word, excel, PowerPoint).

What We Would Like You to Have

  • Research experience is preferred, particularly in the areas of biochemistry or molecular biology.
