Job Summary

Applications are invited for a professional research assistant to assist in a multi-disciplinary translational biomaterials project. This team project is led by Prof. Stephanie J. Bryant in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, the Materials Science and Engineering Program, and the BioFrontiers Institute.

Who We Are

The Biomaterials and Functional Tissue Engineering laboratory led by Prof. Bryant develops novel biomimetic and biodegradable materials for regenerative medicine with the goal of translating these technologies into humans.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Conduct research under the supervision of the principal investigator.
  • Perform chemical synthesis related to crosslinked polymers including hydrogels, conjugation of bioactive molecules, and 3D printing for biological applications.
  • Participate in project meetings.
  • Work collaboratively with team members.

What We Can Offer

The salary range for this position is $40,000-$70,000 per year. Relocation assistance may be available within department guidelines.

What We Require

  • Applicants should have at a minimum a Bachelor's degree in chemistry, materials science and engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field.
  • Research experience in a laboratory at a University or in Industry.

What We Would Like You to Have

  • An advanced degree (MS or PhD) in chemistry, materials science and engineering, chemical engineering or a related field is welcomed but not required.
  • Experience in areas such as monomer synthesis, free radical polymerizations, polymeric nanoparticle/microparticle synthesis including emulsions, and materials characterization (e.g., scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, light microscopy) is preferred.
