Who We Are

The College of Arts and Sciences at CU Boulder is the intellectual core of the university, conducting research, scholarship, creative work and education in more than 60 fields. The college leads nationally in undergraduate and graduate education in the natural sciences, social sciences and arts and humanities, bringing world-class research and scholarship to our students, both in and out of the classroom.

The A&S Residential Academic Programs (RAP) mission is to promote a sense of belonging and community in first year students residing in one of the six halls that house an A&S RAP. The RAPs provide a living-learning environment that helps first-year students develop a sense of intellectual purpose and equips them to become active participants in the life of a major research university. Through small classes, connections with faculty and staff who are experts in undergraduate education, and a rich environment of curricular and co-curricular activity, the A&S RAP supports students in the development of habits of inquiry, critical thinking, and creativity that will prepare them for a lifetime of learning and leadership. A&S RAP students enroll in carefully tailored first-year curriculum offerings that satisfy A&S General Education or major requirements and are taught by dynamic faculty who specialize in the first-year experience.
