Job Summary

The Psychiatric Provider position provides direct mental health services to university students, including crisis intervention. This role conducts psychiatric evaluations and psychiatric follow-up appointments; provides consultation to a multidisciplinary team of psychologists, social workers, LPC’s, and interns; collaborates with CAPS staff on all aspects of clinical service delivery; ensures accurate and timely EHR documentation of the assessment, treatment and referral processes as they occur; collaborates with other campus departments as is appropriate for the treatment of CAPS patients; ensures that issues of diversity and social justice are considered in all assessment, treatment, referral, and training services provided.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Clinical Duties 
  • New psychiatric evaluations, follow-up appointments, and crisis care. 
  • Orders and interprets diagnostic tests as indicated. 
  • Psychiatric consultations with medical providers at CAPS and Medical Services (including MDs, NPs, and RNs). 
  • Staff consultation with non-medical CAPS providers (including psychologists, social workers, LPCs, and LMFTs). 
  • Review critical lab results as needed. 
  • Complete medical records on time, and in compliance with the department’s policies. 
  • Provide telepsychiatry services in compliance with CAPS policies and procedures. 
  • Provide supervision to the psychiatry trainees and junior medical staff as needed.
Administrative and Other Responsibilities
  • Follow all CAPS guidelines around charting/documentation/billing/quality improvement. 
  • Participate in Peer Reviews to ensure quality of care. 
  • Represent CAPS in meetings, consultations, presentations, trainings, and committees to the campus community and campus partners, as requested.

The salary range for this 1% on-call position is $57.69 - $89.00/hour.

What We Require

  • Master of Science or Doctorate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program. 
  • Board Certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from an accredited body. 
  • Advanced Practice Nurse and Prescriptive Authority License in the State of Colorado by start date. 
  • Eligible for Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration. 
  • Eligibility to obtain medical liability insurance (as needed).

  • Digital literacy (experience with Windows-based systems). 
  • Demonstrated multicultural competence and dedication to multicultural organizational development. 
  • Ability to work in a collaborative multidisciplinary team environment. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills.

What We Would Like You to Have

  • 2+ years of experience in psychiatric practice.
  • Experience providing assessment and treatment of Substance use disorders and/or Eating disorders.
  • Ability to conduct sessions to patients in a language other than English; Spanish, Chinese, or Arabic preferred.
  • Experience working with college students and/or in a university counseling center. 
  • Experience working with BIPOC, LGBTQ+, international and underserved populations. 
  • Demonstrated dedication to multicultural and social justice issues. 
  • Experience providing training, consultation, and supervision to trainees, residents, and junior-level psychiatrists and nurse practitioners. 
  • Experience providing services through telepsychiatry strongly preferred. 
  • Experience working within a clinic or hospital setting. 
  • Experience working with electronic health records.
