Who We Are
The most important goal of our early childhood curriculum is to help children become enthusiastic learners. This means encouraging children to be active and creative explorers who aren't afraid to try out their ideas and to think their own thoughts. Our goal is to support children in becoming independent, self-confident and inquisitive learners. We do this by allowing them to learn at their own pace and in ways that are best for them. By giving children good habits and attitudes, particularly a positive sense of themselves, we will make a difference throughout their lives. The Children’s Center is licensed through the Colorado Department of Social Services.
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
- Collaborate with director on daily staff scheduling needs. Communicate schedule changes to impacted team members in a timely and professional manner.
- Lead Quality Support Team (QST) members throughout the day to ensure the highest quality support in all classrooms and best use of personnel.
- Mentor QST members on standard processes and on meeting and following all childcare licensing rules and regulations.
- Responsible for implementing and guiding others to implement all center policies and procedures.
- Directly supervises and trains assistant Quality Support Team teachers and provides guidance as needed for student assistants, interns and volunteers. Responsible for mentoring these positions on meeting and following all childcare licensing rules and regulations and Colorado Shines guidelines.
- When substituting for a lead teacher, supervises and interacts with children by planning and implementing age-appropriate activities, including science, math, language, arts, large and small motor, art, multicultural. Is familiar with and follows all ITERS, ECERS and Colorado Shines standards. Is familiar with and consistently adheres to and follows all childcare licensing rules and regulations in addition to the requirements of other agencies. Is capable of meeting these requirements with any group of children, ages 6 weeks to 5 years. Uses appropriate Guidance Techniques. Keeps clear, comprehensive, and accurate records, (Attendance, Name-to-Face verification, Children’s records, all other paperwork). Completes written reports as necessary including twice-yearly parent/teacher conferences, weekly newsletters to parents, student file notes, accident reports, etc. Provides information to parents about their child by discussion at arrival and departure time, written communications, and/or telephone calls. Provides positive customer service and information, handles difficult situations with finesse. Helps parents to understand behavior and development.
- When substituting as an assistant teacher, follows the direction of the Lead Teacher in how and what lesson plans are implemented. Ensuring parents check their child in and out of the Center each day and completes attendance verification (Name-to-Face) throughout the day. Ensuring that each child is under direct, active supervision both indoors and outdoors, including nap time. Maintaining correct staff to child ratio and group sizes at all times. Supports safety of children by monitoring indoor and outdoor equipment, communicating any concerns to the director. Maintains health standards following procedures for food preparation, diapering, medication administration, etc. Remains current on certifications including CPR, First Aid, Child Abuse, Medication Administration.
- Work with director on quarterly budget parameters for orders. Responsible for placing pantry orders in a timely manner and ensuring items are stored appropriately.
- Collaborate with director and teachers to create and organize four center-wide events per year with an eye on cultural sensitivity and community support.
- Attend all parent events and programs.
- Other duties as required.
- Communicates effectively in a clear and professional manner at all times.
- Provides Director with regular updates on an ongoing basis. Maintains channels of communication with teaching teams and office in an effective and timely manner. Maintains confidentiality in all communication.
- Professional Development:
- Assures continual professional growth by attending all staff meetings, staff in-service days, workshops, and conferences. Demonstrates flexibility in scheduling, working with different levels of staff, and handling a variety of situations. Seeks out research on advances in early education and shares information with center staff. Proactively maintains 15 hours of ongoing annual training through PD

What We Require
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must pass Pre-Placement Physical Required background checks include a review with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Central Registry of Child Protection (Trails).
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university with a major area of study in one of the following areas:
- Early childhood education
- Elementary education
- Special education
- Family and child development
- Child psychology.
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university with two (2) three-semester hour early childhood education college courses with one course being either Introduction to Early Childhood Education or Guidance Strategies.
- Current early childhood professional Credential Level III Version 2.0 as determined by the Colorado Department of Education.
- Sixty (60) semester hours in early childhood education from a regionally accredited college or university, which must include at least two (2) three-semester hour courses, one of which must be either Introduction to Early Childhood Education or Guidance Strategies, and six (6) months of satisfactory experience.
- Completion of twelve (12) semester hours from a regionally accredited college or university, at either a two year, four year or graduate level, in each of the following subject or content areas in early childhood education and one of the three (3) semester hour courses must be either Introduction to Early Childhood Education or Guidance Strategies and nine (9) months (1,395 hours) of verified experience in the care and supervision of four (4) or more children less than six (6) years of age who are not related to the individual.
- Completion of a vocational or occupational education sequence in child development and twelve months of verified experience in the care and supervision of four or more children less than six (6) years of age who are not related to the individual.
- Current certification as a Child Development Associate (CDA) from the Council of Professional Recognition, or other Department-approved credential.
- Completion of a course of training approved by the Department that includes training and work experience with children in a child growth and development program and twelve (12) months (1,820 hours) of verified experience in the care and supervision of four (4) or more children less than six (6) years of age who are not related to the individual.
- Current Colorado Level I credential; or, 2) Two (2) three- semester hour early childhood education college courses from a regionally accredited college or university, at either a two year, four year or graduate level, in each of the following subject or content areas with one course being either Introduction to Early Childhood Education or Guidance Strategies and twenty-four (24) months (3,640hours) of verified experience in the care and supervision of four (4) or more children less than six (6) years of age who are not related to the individual. Satisfactory experience includes being a licensee of a Colorado family childcare home, a teacher’s aide or teacher in a childcare center, Preschool, or elementary school.
- A registered nurse, licensed to practice in Colorado, with a minimum of six months of experience in the care of infants and/or toddlers.
- Current certificate in infant and toddler care from an accredited college or university with completion of at least thirty semester hours in such courses as child growth and development, nutrition, and care practices with children birth to three years of age.
- A licensed practical nurse with at least twelve months of verifiable experience in the care of children less than three years of age.
- An Assistant Teacher who is working in an infant nursery must have six months of experience in the care of infants and toddlers (which may include parenting experience)
- Staff members must be current for all immunizations routinely recommended for adults by their health care provider and CU.
- All staff members must submit to the center a medical statement, signed and dated by a physician or other health care provider, verifying that they are in good mental, physical, and emotional health appropriate for the position for which they have been hired. This statement must be dated no more than six (6) months prior to employment or within thirty (30) calendar days after the first date of employment.
- Staff members must follow all required background check requirements as required in the General Rules for Childcare Facilities.
What You Will Need

- Demonstrated skills to lead, develop and supervise, a highly functioning quality support team who support all classrooms. Coach university student employees, interns and volunteers.
- Adaptable, meticulous person with a growth mindset, team mentality and willingness to collaborate and be flexible to meet the changing needs of the center.
- Competency in computer applications such as Microsoft Suite of programs, parent communication applications (ProCare or similar) and Teams.
- Excellent inter-personal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrable understanding of Colorado Child Care Licensing Rules and Regulations.
- A self-motivated teammate who can lead by example and demonstrate a passion for advancing early childhood education standard processes.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure and lead multiple priorities while maintaining a positive environment.
What We Would Like You to Have
- A bachelor’s degree in early childhood administration or a related field or associate degree with relevant experience.
- Three years of professional experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position
- Shown experience with staff scheduling in the early childhood education setting
- Experience in supervising staff in following licensing and regulatory guidelines.
- Be fully experienced in following Colorado childcare licensing rules and regulations.
- Is familiar with and follows all ITERS, ECERS and Colorado Shines standards.
- Effective people management skills with the confidence and experience to lead a team.
