Job Summary

Medical Services at the University of Colorado Boulder encourages applications for a Radiology Technologist! This position delivers high quality diagnostic radiology services to students, staff, faculty and University guests and their dependents (as appropriate) by conducting x-ray examinations for both internal and external physicians at Wardenburg Health Services. This position provides technical radiological services at Wardenburg by directing x-ray examinations of patients, calculating radiation factors prior to examinations of patients, advising practitioners about radiological images, verifying patient information and updating medical records and electronic jacket, and delivering radiological reports to referring physicians. This position performs patient billing functions as needed. This is an on-call position, working Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:30 am - 5:00 pm.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Radiologic Technology Science

  • Operates diagnostic x-ray equipment. Positions patient for optimal image. Critiques images for optimal quality.
  • Calculates and regulates radiation exposure factors (ie. milliamperage, peak kilovolts, time/distance grid ratios, patient habitus, and condition of patient) and anatomical positioning to obtain optimal images.

Communication with Patients, Healthcare Providers, Clinic Staff & Service Vendors

  • Confers, consults and collaborates with healthcare providers to clarify orders, confirm possible additional views and exchange information about the patient to facilitate the radiologic exam.
  • Releases medical information to Wardenburg healthcare providers by phone or EMR. Release medical information to patients compact disc when required for continuity of care with release of information.

Information System & Computer Technology

  • Accesses, retrieves and enters data in Radiology Information System (RIS), Picture Archiving Computel System (PACS), Medicat Order Monitor and Electronic Medical Record (EMR), Digital Radiography system(DR) and Wardenburg network computers.
  • Enters demographic information, confirms electronic orders, updates provider data tables, performs billing, audits information for accuracy and accesses patient records for necessary information to complete an exam.

What You Should Know

This is an in-person, “1%” position without a regular schedule or FTE appointment. Clinic demand and current staffing needs determine schedule from semester to semester. While there is not a set minimum or maximum number of shifts per semester for 1% on-call technicians, schedules are set on Monday-Friday between the hours of 7:30 am – 5:00 pm per mutual agreement between clinic administration and the 1% technician. No weekends will be required.

What We Can Offer

The hourly rate for this position is $28.00 to $30.02 per hour.

What We Require

  • Associate's degree from an accredited institution in a field of study related to the work assignment. Additional appropriate experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.
  • One year of relevant experience. 
  • A registry or licensure as a Radiologic Technologist.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate (upon hire or can be obtained within three months of hire).
