Job Summary

The Department of Psychology and Neuroscience CREST Lab has a full-time research associate position available as part of a study funded by NIMH focused on the prevention of depressive relapse among pregnant women with recurrent depression. This is a collaborative study between the University of Colorado Boulder and Massachusetts General Hospital that will test the effectiveness of a digital mindfulness program. 

The candidate will work as a research associate to manage all grant, research, and administrative activities associated with the project. The research associate will receive supervision from Dr. Dimidjian and will be a core part of the multisite team with collaborators from the MGH site.

Who We Are

Under the direction of Dr. Sona Dimidjian, the Clinical Research for Evidence-based Services and Training Lab at the University of Colorado, Boulder, in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience (CU CREST) works to engage the principles and methods of clinical psychological science to build knowledge that will reduce suffering and enhance well-being in the lives of individuals and communities. CU CREST houses an interconnected cutting edge clinical research program and a range of academic and community training efforts.  Supported by grants from the National Institute of Mental Health, the University of Colorado Boulder, including the Division of Outreach and Engagement, private foundations, and individual donors, CU CREST focuses on the scientific innovation and investigation of clinical practices and professional training designed to accomplish its central mission. In addition, CU CREST places a special emphasis on the mental health needs of women across important transitions throughout the life cycle, including pregnancy and the postpartum and adolescence. 

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Provides phone coaching for participants assigned to the Mindful Mood Balance for Moms condition and to provide clinical research training and implementation support for other study personnel as designated by the PI.
  • Ensures effective research communication processes between study staff at the MGH site regarding clinical assessment and longitudinal monitoring of participants, CU Boulder staff regarding clinical research phone coaching, and vendor services.
  • Conducts research tasks at the University of Colorado Boulder site, including development and documentation of study protocols and procedures, oversight of study timeline, recruitment, and enrollment milestones, monitoring compliance with federal, institutional, and IRB policies, and organization of project meetings, including meeting of the Data and Safety Monitoring Board.
  • Contributes to research programming for the REDCap database and ongoing oversight, including audits periodically, to ensure research integrity of study measurement procedures and data collection 
  • Tracks research administration and retention of baseline screening and follow up assessments 
  • Manages research data submissions to the National Database for Clinical Trials Related to Mental Illness (NDCT) and manage the ClinicalTrials.gov study registration. 
  • Works closely with vendors to ensure that the Mindful Mood Balance for Moms arm of the study is implemented with high fidelity and integrity, including that website functionality is maintained throughout the study and all participant barriers are effectively solved. 
  • Participates in regular research team meetings via telephone conferences with the MGH site, as well as at University of Colorado Boulder. 
  • Assists in the preparation of study reports and manuscripts.
  • Contributes to positive and effective team functioning of the project team and lab climate.

  • PhD in Psychology

What You Will Need

  • Strong team player with excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent knowledge of clinical and/or health related psychology, with background in mindfulness-based programs, mood disorders, and maternal mental health preferred.
  • Curious, eager to learn and develop as an independent clinical scientist
  • Ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team setting 
  • Excellent attention to detail and experience with project management
