Job Summary

In an effort to bolster research collaboration, the University of Colorado Boulder (CU Boulder) seeks a Research Development Partnership Specialist. Coordinating with key partners (e.g., faculty, research development personnel, leadership) at CU Boulder and the Anschutz Medical Campus (AMC), the Research Development Partnership Specialist will actively identify funding opportunities, execute events to facilitate research partnerships (at least two/semester), cultivate relationships with faculty across campuses, and coordinate a seed grant program. The goal is to increase institutional partnerships, competitive proposal submissions, and ultimately, funding for both institutions.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Outreach & Communications
  • Cultivate relationships with researchers at CU Boulder and AMC and connect faculty with proposal writer(s), as appropriate.
  • Market events and seed grant program through established CU Boulder channels (RIO webpage, CU Boulder Today, CU Events Calendar) and partner with AMC communicators to ensure corresponding promotion at AMC.
  • Curate and disseminate targeted funding opportunities and develop periodic newsletter for distribution to CU Boulder and AMC faculty.
  • Coordinate activities with CU Boulder and AMC research development personnel.
  • This position will work in a collaborative manner with an equivalent position on the CU AMC campus. The successful candidate in this position will be evaluated on their ability to partner with, and partner successfully with, the AMC campus.
  • Develop institutional relationships with research leaders (School, College, Institute, etc.) and become an identified resource for CU Boulder/AMC research partnerships.
Program Administration
  • Coordinate CU Boulder-AMC seed grant program, including coordinating the proposal submission process, communicating with and answering applicant questions, recruiting and organizing reviewers, communicating annual program results, procuring and compiling post-award awardee reports, and evaluating the program.
  • Track and analyze meaningful data/metrics (including program return on investment) and build annual reports.
  • Co-Administer CU Boulder-AMC Seed Grant Program
Event Planning 
  • Coordinate, plan, and maintain a schedule of research symposiums and blitzes, including event promotion and logistics (e.g., booking rooms, technical equipment, catering, event registration, and follow-up).
  • Use existing programs (e.g., CO Cardio Vascular, CCTSI, RNA Club, etc.).

What We Require

  • Bachelor’s degree at an accredited institution.

What You Will Need

  • Strong interpersonal skills (written and verbal) and a high degree of professionalism. 
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects and tasks. 
  • Familiarity with federal, philanthropic and industry research funders. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite & familiarity with Excel.
  • Able to adapt to ambiguous and/or changing situations and produce results.
  • Exceptional attention to detail. 
  • Effective collaboration and facilitation skills
  • Self-motivated, willing to take action with a proven ability to establish relationships.
  • Independent judgment, strong organization and communication skills and an outstanding customer service focus. 
  • Ability to critically assess a program solicitation.  
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and also as the capability to collaborate with a team.

What We Would Like You To Have

  • Master’s degree, preferably in life sciences or health-related field.
  • Previous experience in research development or at a research institution.
  • Experience with workshop management and coordination.
