Job Summary

The Institute of Behavioral Science invites applications for a part-time position as Research Professor. A Ph.D. and extensive experience as a university faculty member is required. A major commitment to and demonstrated excellence in research and the ability to secure external research funding are expected. This position is in the research professor series at the University of Colorado Boulder.

Who We Are

The Institute of Behavioral Science (IBS) is a research institute at the University of Colorado Boulder. Since its establishment in 1957, it has provided a setting for interdisciplinary, collaborative research on problems of societal concern. By engaging faculty from all the social and behavioral sciences at the University of Colorado, Boulder, IBS encourages work that transcends disciplinary boundaries, that illuminates the complexity of social behavior and social life, and that has important implications for social policy; IBS researchers are expected to conduct research that fulfills that mission. IBS is organized into five research programs, each defined by an interdisciplinary area of research and directed by a senior research scientist. This recruitment is sponsored by the Institute’s Population and Health and Society Programs, with support from the Prevention Science Program, the Environment and Society Program, and the Program on International Development.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Build an independent research program by securing research grants focused on aspects of the social and behavioral sciences.
  • Manage research as outlined in research grants following all institute and university guidelines and requirements.
  • Mentor students in research using ethical best practices in mentoring and teaching.
  • Contribute to an inclusive and ethical environment in IBS.

What You Should Know

  • The applicant will work in residence at the Institute of Behavioral Science for a five-year appointment.

  • PhD in a field relevant to Social and Behavioral Science.
  • Experience as a tenured faculty member.
  • Evidence of successful mentoring of graduate students in research.
