Job Summary
This Scholar in Residence position provides overall leadership to the CU professional education programs related to water reuse. These programs include the graduate professional masters program (PMP) in Water Reuse. The position resides in the Civil, Environmental & Architectural Engineering Department (CEAE), and begins in the Fall Semester 2025. For the 2025-26 academic year, this is expected to be a part-time (30% FTE) benefits-ineligible position. The Scholar in Residence will teach a core course in Water Reuse, support the program, and help teach the EVEN senior design class.

The fields of civil, environmental and architectural engineering offer careers in planning, design, construction and management of the built environment as well as in the interaction between the built and natural environment. CEAE's mission is the education of undergraduate and graduate students to become leaders in the professional practice of engineering, contributing to technological advances that benefit humankind while improving the earth’s physical and biological resources. The Water Reuse PMP is a unique program only given at CU Boulder and builds off this teaching and research emphasis in the environmental engineering group.
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
- Providing overall leadership and support for the Water Reuse PMP.
- Being actively engaged in ongoing curriculum development for the Water Reuse PMP.
- Participating as a teaching faculty member for the environmental engineering program and the Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering Department.
- Serving as the faculty of record for the CVEN 5594 Water Reuse and EVEN 4434 Environmental Engineering Design Fall and Spring semesters, respectively.
- Being actively engaged in marketing activities for the Water Reuse program. This may involve supporting the development of materials and programs, participating in industry events to build visibility for the program, and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders within the industry and related media companies.

- The anticipated start date for this position is Fall 2025; however, a later start date may be negotiated.
What We Can Offer
- The annual salary for this position is $25,000.00 at 30% FTE.

What We Require
- Minimum qualifications include a PhD or equivalent in Environmental Engineering or an equivalent program.
- At least ten years of experience in the water and wastewater industry, including projects related to water reuse.
What We Would Like You to Have
- Preferred qualifications include experience in marketing programs related to education, a proven track record as an educator / speaker within the water and wastewater industry, and active membership in an industry association WEF, AWWA, WRA.
