Job Summary
The Office of Admissions at the University of Colorado Boulder is encouraging applications for The Senior Assistant Director of Graduate Recruitment position! This role reports to the Director of Recruitment in the Office of Admissions. This role is the team lead for domestic graduate student recruitment. As such, it involves significant leadership, participation, and oversight in the development and administration of recruitment, partnership and outreach related to domestic graduate prospects and applicants to campus-based graduate programs administered by the Graduate School. This position is NOT responsible for the recruitment of CU Online, Law, or Business master’s students.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, making data-informed decisions regarding the allocation of university and office resources, including decisions related to recruitment travel, vendor partnerships, and paid support staff; advising/working with prospective students and applicants via LiveChat, email, phone appointments, in-person recruitment, and connecting prospective grad students with appropriate offices, departments and resources; providing high-touch engagement and support to departments as needed and serving as primary liaison to departments for domestic graduate recruitment; establishing and maintaining relationships with on-campus academic departments, relevant consortia, educational advisors/officials, and related organizations; working in close collaboration with campus offices and partners (e.g., Graduate School, Registrar's Office, Enrollment Management Marketing and Communication Team, and the various academic/research centers and institutes); implementing and evaluating strategies for recruitment by analyzing trends and standard processes in the industry; when needed, traveling domestically and representing the University at recruitment or outreach events within the USA.
This position is responsible for supervising, at a minimum, one full-time employee: the Assistant Director of Graduate Recruitment, with the possibility of supervising additional student staff. Further responsibilities include organizing and supervising/managing the graduate recruitment team’s LiveChat and Handshake accounts, as well as any other virtual platforms or software used for domestic graduate recruitment (Brazen, Whova, CareerEco.etc.), and developing an in-person recruitment schedule to supplement virtual recruitment. This position works closely with Enrollment Management’s Marketing and Communications (MarComm) team to plan and strategize email communications and marketing aimed at prospective graduate students and with the MarComm social media liaison to plan and implement social media initiatives. Finally, the person in this position must be familiar with and observe professional ethics expectations including policies of the Office of Admissions and codes of conduct of professional organizations in which the university holds membership. This position will also understand and promote the university's core values and mission.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Recruitment and Outreach:
- Provides admission-related information to prospective graduate students both in-person and virtually through domestic recruitment events. In collaboration with the Director of Recruitment and Enrollment Management leadership, sets realistic goals based on department and region, identifying target markets for continued and additional graduate recruitment and outreach.
- Partners with engaged graduate programs and departments to stay current on admissions requirements, research highlights, funding information, and to identify and support departmental enrollment targets. Additionally, collaborates with appropriate department faculty and staff to identify enrollment trends and targets, opportunities for growth, and other strategies for addressing department/program recruitment goals.
- Responsible for the management and assessment of the recruitment plan for domestic graduate prospects. As such, this position is responsible for the oversight and execution of an in-person recruitment plan based on said goals and budget & staffing capacities. This position will be expected to travel domestically, with potential opportunities for international travel in the future. Additionally, provides admissions-related information to prospective students by telephone, video conference technology, LiveChat, and virtual/on-campus programming. This includes participating in admissions recruitment through virtual presentations, virtual college fairs and, as needed, virtual one-on-one meetings.
Collaboration with Graduate Programs, Departments, and Colleges:
- Develops relationships and maintains clear and continuous communication with university departments offering graduate certificate, masters, and doctoral programs. Identifies areas of collaboration and opportunities for extending the reach and presence of the University nationally and internationally through using departmental connections. Works in a collaborative capacity with the domestic graduate recruiters to meet with and provide regular updates to academic programs on recruitment activities. Provides the office and campus partners with data analysis and market research which will assist in graduate recruitment efforts. Additionally, assists & supports graduate programs/departments with running their own recruitment events, such as open houses, admitted student weekends, and webinars. Develops strategic partnerships and makes recommendations for possible institutional or admissions related collaborations and establishes and maintains relationships with other universities and constituents in the graduate recruitment space; works in close collaboration with campus offices and partners (e.g. Graduate School, and various academic centers and institutes).
Supervisory Responsibilities and Professional Development:
- Manages, trains, supervises, and evaluates staff members including graduate recruiters and graduate student ambassadors. Participates in staff development activities including university workshops, conferences and programs, and state and national professional organizations with the aim of growing supervisory abilities and using the knowledge acquired to further the careers of those supervised.
Identifying and Implementing Partnership Opportunities:
- Develops strategic partnerships and makes recommendations for possible institutional or admissions-related collaborations and establishes/maintains relationships with other universities and constituents in the graduate recruitment space; works in close collaboration with campus offices and partners (e.g., IEC, Graduate School, and various academic centers and institutes).
- Work with the Director of Recruitment and Enrollment Management leadership to find opportunities to partner with and/or contract vendors to assist with graduate recruitment and enrollment.
Other duties as needed:
- Assisting with select undergraduate-focused events, such as Admitted Student Day.
What You Should Know
- Hybrid work schedule, with a minimum of 1 day per week working from the Office of Admissions on the CU Boulder campus.
- A valid driver’s license and regular access to a vehicle to meet recruitment expectations.
- Evening and weekend work is required.
What We Can Offer
- The annual salary for this full-time position is $76,602 - $77,250.

What We Require
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis.
- Minimum of three years of progressively more responsible and independent admission-related experience in higher education recruitment, enrollment, or admissions.

- Four (4) years of job-related experience, including supervision with a minimum of two (2) years of progressively more responsible and independent management experience in a college admission or other higher ed office.
- Strong understanding of graduate admissions/enrollment landscape at the University of Colorado Boulder, or another large public university with a decentralized graduate admissions model.
- Relevant work in counseling and other student-related activities or in community organizations, colleges/universities and professional development programs.
- Experience in staff or student supervision.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other common software.
- Experience using Slate or other enrollment-focused CRM.
