The Laboratory for Astrophysics and Space Science (LASP) is encouraging applications for a Senior Employee Relations Advisor to join our team. This role is responsible for the management of employee relations across the organization. In addition to employee relations work, this opportunity develops and implements the LASP workforce learning and development and engagement programs, and measures efficacy, and strategizes and implements programs that will create effective managerial career development training programs and enhance a diverse and inclusive work environment.

Who We Are

LASP is a world-renowned space science research institute at the University of Colorado Boulder. CU receives more NASA funding than any public university in the country, due in large part to LASP programs. Professional engineers work closely with scientists and assembly technicians in designing and building space flight hardware while helping mentor students as entry-level engineers working on these programs. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Oversee all aspects of the performance management process, including advising and coaching LASP leadership and managers on personnel issues and raising personnel issues when needed.
  • Provide guidance on performance improvement plans as needed.
  • Identify and recommend appropriate process improvements to accomplish effective performance management.
  • Identify and assess the training needs of the organization through job analysis, career paths, and consultation with managers and LASP leadership.
  • Manage training program development and crafts curriculum to facilitate strategic training based on the organization’s goals.
  • Develop individualized and group HR and performance-based training programs that address specific business needs.
  • Implement effective and purposeful training methods. Conducts stand-up training, as requested.
  • Select and manage training resources, including working with both CU and training vendors to develop and deliver training.
  • Research and advise LASP leadership on diversity and inclusion issues and creates programs to create an environment of diversity in the workplace.
  • Serve as liaison to LASP Diversity and Climate Committee.
  • Develop metrics to assess the success of HR training programs
  • Design and implement employee development opportunities in support of attracting and retaining employees with the skills and competencies necessary for growth and sustainability for the organization.
  • Create incentive programs for multiple levels of the organization.

What We Can Offer

The hiring range is $75,000.00 - $90,000.00. Relocation is available per institute guidelines.

What We Require

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field.
  • Five+ years of experience in employee relations and performance management.

What You Will Need

  • Knowledge of state and federal laws/regulations, including but not limited to FMLA, ADA, Title VII, and EEO.
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong partnerships with coworkers and peers.
  • Ability to influence and problem solve in the areas of performance management and employee relations.
  • Outstanding communication skills.

What We Would Like You To Have

  • At least one year of experience in training.
