Job Summary

Medical Services at CU Boulder encourages applications for a Sexual and Reproductive Health Advance Practice Nurse (APN)! This position provides comprehensive sexual and reproductive health services to students in a university setting. The role will deliver care by emphasizing the promotion of health and the prevention and treatment of disease by formulating, with the patient, a health care plan to manage actual and potential health problems. Duties are performed in accordance with established standards and ethics of medical and nursing practice, personal qualifications, and the administrative policies and operational procedures of Wardenburg Health Services.

This position will work 80% of the time from August through May and 50% time during June and July.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Patient Care

  • Perform thorough and accurate medical evaluations and design a treatment plan in accordance with medical guidelines and standards. Communicate with and educate patients regarding their medical condition, follow-up care, and preventive measures.
  • EMR documentation: Prepare and maintain thorough, accurate, and clear medical records which justify the diagnoses, treatment(s) and billing codes.
  • Make appropriate use of Pharmacy, Laboratory, Radiology, Physical Therapy, and other ancillary services in clinical decision making in accordance with the standard practice of medicine.
  • Readily seek appropriate consultation for unusual or unresponsive cases while following established referral procedures.

Quality Improvement & Collaboration

  • Participate in the implementation of the Medical Clinic Process Improvement activities.
  • Participate with other staff, nurse practitioners and physicians, sharing a proportionate patient load and clinical responsibilities.

Continuing Education & Updating of Credentials

  • Participate in accredited continuing medical education to acquire and maintain the professional knowledge and skills needed to carry out the responsibilities of the position. Maintain current and appropriate nurse practitioner credentials including a Colorado Nursing License, prescriptive authority (including National Certification and DEA registration). 

What You Should Know

This is an in-person position with an anticipated work schedule of 4 days a week during the 80% time from August through May, and 2-3 days per week during the 50% time of June and July. This role is not expected to work University recognized holidays or evenings.

What We Can Offer

The annual salary range for this 80/50 position is $76,959 - $115,438.50. Salary is dependent upon candidate's years of APN licensure.

What We Require

  • Registered Advanced Practice Nurse with State of Colorado upon hire.
  • Full prescriptive authority in the state of Colorado upon hire.
  • DEA Registration.
  • 2 years of APN experience relevant to the field.
  • National certification as an Advance Practice Nurse.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Eligible for clinical privileges as determined by the WHS Credentialing and Privileging Department.

What You Will Need

  • Ability to communicate and relate well with staff and students in an academic environment.
  • Basic functional computer skills (experience with Windows based systems).
  • LARC placement and management.

What We Would Like You to Have

  • Advance Practice Nurse with significant experience in provision of Sexual and Reproductive Health Care.
  • Experience in provision of sexual health care to LGBTQI community, including sexual and reproductive health care and hormone therapy for transgender population.
  • Experience working in a college setting.
  • Experience with EMR.
