Job Summary
The Sports Science Intern supports the delivery and development of applied sports science initiatives to promote optimal health, wellness, and performance of University of Colorado student-athletes. This position provides hands-on assistance with data collection and management, athlete testing and monitoring, and performance analysis while working closely with an integrated team of coaches and practitioners to implement evidence-based, data-informed practices.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
- The Sports Science Intern will assist with setting up, maintaining, and breaking down performance monitoring equipment such as GPS units, heart rate monitors, and force plates.
- They will assist with collecting, organizing, and managing data related to athlete workload, recovery, readiness, and performance while integrating it into a centralized athlete management system.
- This Intern will work in a collaborative manner to develop reports and visualizations, communicate with an interdisciplinary performance team, and ensure compliance with institutional data privacy standards.
What You Should Know
- This is a temporary appointment. The weekly hours will vary based on sport assignment and competitive seasons. Early mornings, evenings, or weekend hours may occur.
What We Can Offer
- Starting salary is $19/hr.

What We Require
- Bachelor's Degree in a health or performance-related field, including physiology, kinesiology, health and wellness, sport science, nutrition, athletic training, exercise science, or related field.
- Strong interest in applied sports science, data analytics, or sports medicine.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
What You Will Need
- Proven communication skills and ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
- Demonstrated ability to establish effective relationships with groups and individuals.
- Basic skills in data collection, analysis, and visualization.
- Self-motivated, organized, attentive to detail, and able to problem-solve.
What We Would Like You to Have
- Master's Degree
- 1 year of experience working for a D1 football program.
- Experience working in a research lab.
- Basic knowledge of GPS and performance technologies (e.g., Catapult, Kinexon, Polar, VALD, etc.).
- Experience using statistical programming languages and data visualization tools (e.g., R, Python, Power BI, etc.).
- Interest in working towards a professional certification such as CSCS, CPSS, etc.
