Job Summary

The School of Education at the University of Colorado Boulder seeks a Teaching Assistant Professor to contribute to our growing Leadership and Community Engagement (LCE) major, Multicultural Leadership Studies, and/or Leadership Studies Minor. This part-time, non-tenure track position will focus primarily on undergraduate teaching, with responsibilities that also include service to programs and the School of Education, as appropriate.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Teach five sections per academic year in one or more of the programs named above, as needed to support instruction in those programs.
  • Design and deliver inclusive, engaging, and equity-oriented coursework aligned with program goals.
  • Participate in ongoing curriculum development and program improvement efforts.
  • Advise and mentor undergraduate students in the role of course instructor.
  • Contribute to service activities within the focal programs and the broader School of Education community.
  • Support community-based learning and partnership initiatives that align with the mission of the School.

What You Should Know

  • August 14, 2025 to May 2, 2026.
  • This is a nine-month, 62.5% FTE, non-renewable position as a Teaching Assistant Professor. Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

What We Require

  • MA in relevant academic discipline: Education, Political Science, Sociology, Community Studies, or related field.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, particularly with regard to working with racially, ethnically, economically, and/or linguistically diverse students;
  • Prior experience teaching college students particularly in leadership, civic engagement, social justice, or related topics- including developing syllabi, lesson plans, assessing student work, and evaluating course as a whole. 

What We Would Like You to Have

  • PhD in in relevant academic discipline: Education, Political Science, Sociology, Community Studies, or related field.
  • Prior professional experience working with university faculty, staff, and students on higher education community engagement initiatives specifically in the School of Education at CU Boulder.
  • Experience with community-based teaching or research partnerships.
  • Background in designing or facilitating experiential learning opportunities.
  • Familiarity with the school’s mission and initiatives or similar university engagement centers.
