Job Summary

The University of Colorado Boulder is searching for a Temporary HR & Payroll Coordinator! This position will be responsible for knowing and interpreting CU Graduate School policies pertaining to Graduate Research appointments, hiring and onboarding lecturers and monitoring biweekly/monthly payroll.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Serve as a liaison with the HR Service Center (HRSC) for all SOE appointments.
  • Prepare Graduate Faculty Appointments.
  • Draft offer letters for GRA, lecturer and University Supervisor appointments, route for signatures via DocuSign and submit to the HRSC to be entered into HCM.
  • Manage the hiring, onboarding, orientation and reappointment process for new PhD students, adjunct lecturers, and supervisors.
  • Assess and verify employee payroll by running reports, verifying budgets with finance team prior to hiring, and resolving pay and funding issues.
  • Train new employees on MyLeave and assist with any questions.
  • Send out monthly and biweekly timesheet reminders.
  • Enter PETs and funding changes as needed.
  • Prepare and route Additional Pay Forms, send to HRSC for entry and confirm payout date for employee(s).
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the BUENO Center to track main campus, continuing education, and B3 course proposals, confirm main campus adjunct lecturers, draft offer letters and set up appointments.
  • Collect hiring information for Summer 2022 and possibly Fall 2022 GRA appointments. May include collecting information to begin the onboarding process for the new SOE PhD cohort of Fall 2022.

  • This position is in a hybrid work situation. In-person training will be required, and it is preferred that the incumbent be in the office 2-3 days a week.
  • This is a full time, temporary position.

What We Can Offer

  • Hourly Compensation: $21.00 - $23.00.

Temporary positions at the University of Colorado are not benefits-eligible, however, all positions are eligible for paid sick leave

What We Require

  • Graduated from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Social Sciences, or other related field.
  • At least 1 year of professional level experience in human resources and payroll management in a private sector or university setting.
  • Substitution: Full-time professional experience working in Human Resources and/or payroll management may substitute for the bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis.

What You Will Need

  • Proficient Microsoft Office skills, particularly in excel. 
  • General knowledge of accepted human resource principles and governmental accounting procedures and policies.
  • Ability to analyze payroll reports, identify errors, investigate potential solutions.
  • Prioritize tasks to meet multiple monthly deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Establish and maintain effective and positive working collaborations with others.
  • Motivated, pro-active, and willing to take initiative.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Effective organizational skills with a strong attention to accuracy and detail.

What We Would Like You To Have

  • Two or more years of experience in payroll management and/or human resources at a professional or university level.
  • Working knowledge and experience with the University of Colorado’s HCM, CU-SIS and PeopleSoft systems.
